Clearview Skylights Privacy Policy
What we collect when you ask about a rooflight or skylight, which services handle it for us, how long we keep it and how to use your rights under UK GDPR.
Who we are and how to reach us
This policy explains how Clearview Skylights Peterborough collects, uses and looks after personal information when you use clearviewskylightspeterborough.co.uk or ask us about a rooflight or skylight.
Clearview Skylights Peterborough is the controller of the personal information described here. For any question about your data, or to use any of the rights set out below, email info@clearviewskylightspeterborough.co.uk. We handle personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Clearview Skylights has no public premises. We come to you for every survey and installation, and all contact is through the survey form, email or WhatsApp.
What we collect and where it comes from
We only collect what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical information any website receives when a page loads.
- Enquiry form: the details you type into the survey form, usually your name, email address, phone number, postcode or address, and a description of the room and the rooflight you have in mind.
- WhatsApp messages: your WhatsApp name and number, and anything you send us in the chat, such as photos of the room or the roof.
- Email: your email address and anything you include in your message or attachments.
- Survey and job records: if you book a home visit, the measurements, notes, photos and drawings we make at your property, including the sightline sketch, and later the quote, contract, invoices and guarantee details.
- Technical information: your IP address and browser details, which reach our web host when you load a page and, on pages with a map, the map tile server.
We do not ask for special category information, such as health details. If you mention it because it affects the work, such as access needs on the day, we use it only for that purpose.
The services that handle your information for us
A small number of outside services carry or store information on our behalf, and we name them here so nothing is hidden.
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Mortaro CRM | Runs the enquiry form on our pages and stores enquiries | Everything you enter in the form |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Carries messages when you tap the WhatsApp button | Your number, profile name and messages |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers | Supply the map images on pages with a map | Your IP address and browser details |
| Our web host and email provider | Serve the website and carry our email | Technical data and email content |
The enquiry form is an embedded form provided by Mortaro CRM and loaded from mortaro-crm-production.up.railway.app, so what you type goes directly to that service and is stored there for us. The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp with a short message already filled in; nothing is sent until you press send, and from that point WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy also apply. The maps are drawn with Leaflet, and the map images come from OpenStreetMap's tile servers, which is why your IP address reaches them. The fonts on this site are hosted on our own server, so no font service receives your details.
We never sell your personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information, and ours are set out below.
- Replying to an enquiry and preparing a quote: taking steps at your request before a contract is made.
- Carrying out the installation or replacement: performing our contract with you, including arranging access, ordering products and handling the Building Control notification where the work is notifiable.
- Honouring the 10-year workmanship guarantee: our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping an accurate record of the work.
- Keeping accounts and tax records: our legal obligations.
- Keeping the website working and secure: our legitimate interest in running a safe site.
We will not send you marketing emails unless you have asked for them, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for.
If an enquiry does not lead to any work, we aim to delete it within 12 months of our last contact with you. If we carry out work, we keep the job record for the length of the 10-year workmanship guarantee so that we can honour it, and we keep financial records for as long as tax law requires. After that, the information is deleted or anonymised.
Where it is stored and how it is protected
Access to your information is limited to the people who need it to deal with your enquiry or your job.
Some of the services named above may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as a UK adequacy decision or the International Data Transfer Agreement. We use password-protected accounts for the systems that hold customer information.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal information, and using them is free in most cases.
- to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- to have inaccurate information corrected;
- to have information deleted where we no longer have a reason to keep it;
- to restrict or object to some uses, including anything based on our legitimate interests;
- to receive information you gave us in a portable format;
- to withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.
Email info@clearviewskylightspeterborough.co.uk to use any of these rights. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within one month. Some records, such as invoices, have to be kept for legal reasons even if you ask for deletion, and we will tell you if that applies.
Complaints to the Information Commissioner
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk. For concerns about our workmanship rather than your data, our complaints procedure sets out how we deal with them.
Cookies and changes to this policy
How the site uses cookies and similar technology is covered in a separate policy, and this one will be updated whenever the way we handle data changes.
Our cookie policy lists what the site sets and why. If we change how we collect or use personal information, we will update this page before the change takes effect. This policy was last updated in September 2026. Use of the site itself is covered by our terms and conditions.
